Katie Returns!

Some of you might not know that on our way out to LA a friend of ours had messaged DJ, saying he knew another couple that is also moving from Ohio to LA, and he could swap info between us if we would like to possibly met up. So we said yes, thinking it would be nice to know more than a few people in a new city. So natural we ask to be each other friends on Facebook and we sort of checked each other out, before we met up. I knew that we would all be great friends, I just had that feeling. I thought Katie was so cute, I wanted to be her friend just from her profile on Facebook and Matt just seemed really cool and laid back.  And I was right! We hit it off,  we had a lot in common and we all feel that we will be friends for many years to come. Isn't it crazy how we all lived in Columbus,  a much smaller city, and our paths never crossed, only to move to vast city and the Denis's are one of the few couples we know? Fate if you ask me!

Anyways, Matt and Katie got a few production jobs back in Ohio and they left near the end of March, for what we knew would be several weeks. So we knew they weren't going to met our families when the visited or get to met Turbo, until they came back. Matt came back to LA a few weeks ago, while Katie went to Florida to see her family. After 7 long weeks, Katie returns and she gets to met Turbo for the first time!

Turbo giving Katie a warm welcome

We decided to take Turbo and Bella to the dark park

Bella likes to prance around the park

After a raging hard, Turbo started to look rabid

Seriously? haha!

When we had some free time, we caught up over some delicious food and lattes at Urth Cafe!
Welcome back Katie!!

Friends

I have some of the best friends in the world! They inspire me in many ways and each in their own way. This post in particular is dedicated to my good friend Michelle. You can visit her here http://mimisworldadayinthelifeofme.blogspot.com/ and learn all about her new life journey, having moved from the city to a little town in Alabama! Or LA (lower Alabama) as we like to joke! This is how great she is….

She sends me gifts in the mail, just because she is that awesome! And the best part is, she made this beach bag! She is so creative and I think about her all of the time. She inspires me, she is one of those people who finds beauty in everything! She creates, she is a very talented artist and you can view all that she does here https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mimi-Fine-Arts/330218392300 and order something!
When we all lived back in Columbus together she was constantly bringing things over to give us, whether it was furniture or food, she was always giving us stuff. She is a very generous person, I feel like she took care of DJ and I for our first year of marriage haha! I hope she knows how much I appreciate her friendship and I am how excited I am to visit her at her new home in Alabama!

The Pump Track

DJ has rediscovered his love for riding his BMX bike… It never really left it was just hard for him to keep up when factors like work and weather can really effect his ability to ride. Since the move to place without snow, where most of the days are sunny, and working freelance, he has found the time again to go to the skateparks. He is also meeting people and they will text him asking him to ride with them that day. He is very fortunate (thank goodness for me and all the mother's back home) to have our close friend Matt (who skates) go along with him. So he is never alone and he does promise he is doing his best not to get hurt.

If you ever learn one thing about DJ it is that he is very passionate about what he loves. He will probably kill me for saying this but he becomes so obsessed with whatever it is, he eats, breaths and sleeps it. You probably think I am exaggerating. But all he has done recently has been talking about riding, this trick and that trick, plotting out his next trip, he watches YouTube video after video. One day all of his obsessing paid off, he messaged a guy about a location for what is called a pump track and the guy messaged him back, giving him the address. So you can guess what he has been doing all week…

at the pump track

After his first day at the pump track, he scraped up his knee pretty good. Ripped jeans don't protect your knees DJ!
2nd day= the pump track cookout, they had a good turn out!

DJ getting some air!
So this is what DJ has been doing in his free time… or just talking about how awesome it was!!
Haha!

Date Night!

So recently I have been asking DJ to go on a date night. For a while it just wasn't working out, we just couldn't seem to fit it in. Well we finally set a date and stuck to it and I was excited! I was excited to dress up and go to dinner and a movie. Luckily that same day, while hanging out with Katie, I found a cute pair of shoes that I decided to wear for our date.

Floral Peep-toe Mary Jane shoes: Madden Girl, Marshalls $21

Blazer: Express, Dress Shirt: Target, Jeans: Target, Purse: Target, Necklace: Anthropologie

My handsome husband, looking good.

Of course he had to do the piece sign...

Yes, this is the man I married.

We went to P.F. Changs, ate some wonderful food and went to see Water for Elephants. I throughly enjoyed the book and the movie, I recommend you read the book and see the movie. Just do it, because I said so, that's why!! Anyways remember those cute shoes aforementioned? By the end of the night, they left me with three blisters! Including one on my big toe, I didn't know that was possible! DJ was sweet enough to give me a piggy back ride from the movie theatre back to our car, to give my poor feet a break. All in all, we had a great time though and I can't wait for our next date!

Between The Buried And Me

Last Thursday we had the opportunity to go see one of DJ's favorite metal bands, Between The Buried And Me, thanks to our good friend Jason Han. We also had the pleasure of seeing Jason for the first time, since our move. The opening acts that we also saw were Job for a Cowboy and the Ocean.

We took a break, while an opening band played, to go get some yummy Starbucks and to enjoy to cool air outside!

sort of Epic!

DJ was in heaven
The show took place in Ponoma, CA, so with evening traffic a one hour drive turned into a two hour drive, but it was worth it. Who can complain about getting guest listed? An added bonus? I got to spend some time with the hubby. He promises a date night soon, which I am super stoked about!

Hope everyone had a great Mother's Day! I will have much to post very soooon!
