Manhattan beach

DJ and I had the pleasure of going to Manhattan beach today, we helped out a friend with his shoot. We are in a few of the ending shots and it sounds like it is going to be a really cool and inspirational piece, I am really excited to see the end result!

Manhattan beach was awesome, it reminded me of New Port beach, the community was booming, clean and beautiful. There were so many cute little shops and restaurants nearby, it was just a fun experience and I of course took some photos to share.

on our way towards the pier

It just might be my new favorite place...

It's the little things...

My husband sent me a text today, this text contained a picture of his In-N-Out receipt. Why, you ask? He was the number one customer to be called when his food was ready and he was pretty stoked! He reminded me that sometimes it is the little things in life that make it all worth while.  Some of the little things that I enjoy are:
my dog's cuteness...
sleeping in...
new life and new additions to the family...
date nights!
for me, lemon water.
cuddles...
reminiscing the good times with loved ones..

Picture messages
Coffee dates
Movie nights
a hug
a kiss
a smile
family
friends

What are the simple things in your life? I encourage you to notice them, more often..

Weekend Festivities

One of our adventures to share from this weekend was our trip to Walmart. In California there really aren't very many Walmarts, but after Turbo ruined our blinds we starting looking for a place that would have cheap replacement blinds. So we made our way to the closest Wallyworld, it was two stories and jam packed with people. I have never felt to crowded in a store, not even on black friday, it was insanity!! And of course they did not have what we needed, we did not come out empty handed though. We did purchase some finds from the easter candy isle and we got our selfs a nice refreshing Coca~Cola. This is how stoked we were...

On saturday we went to the Forever Hollywood Cemetery, they had a free event in which six artists created a visual representation of an  Explosions in the Sky song, off their new album. Upon entering the cemetery we were given a map to find each piece of art, marked by X's. It was really interesting to walk around the cemetery, which was beautiful by the way, it feels kind of morbid to say it was beautiful, but it was. The artist interpretations were unique, some just very simplistic, while others much more complex. Unfortunately with it being night time and the medium of some of the pieces I did not obtain any decent photos of the artworks. It did however snap a photo of the map after getting home:

I plan to go back in the summer to one of the movie screenings and bring blankets to sit on and food and wine to enjoy. Sounds like a great and romantic evening, even if it is in a cemetery.... ha.

So our Easter Sunday consisted of church with Alesha, at Reality LA and Skyping with family back home. We did take a little time to enjoy the out doors and to reunite with a friend.

Some people might say that I have a Target problem, this picture doesn't help my case because everything I am wearing is from Target... Opps.

Turbo looks silly yet kind of grown up with his ears back, but I still thinks it is a great photo of my men.

Turbo met Matt, Matt met Turbo.

Turbo and Bella, getting aquatinted.

Your turn Katie......soon!

Off to work

I would be lying if I said that I love going to work! I envy the people who love their job (my husband is one of them). It's not that I am lazy and don't want to have to a career, but my job is stressful at times and I never like being away from my husband and my dog. I can't even imagine what it is going to be like when I have a kid ha.

It's just that today I am really struggling with it, because DJ has been working freelance at a studio this past week and his hours are 9:30 am- 7:30 pm. I work 7 pm- 7 am a few days a week, and due to traffic I leave at 5:30 pm on the nights I work, therefore I won't get to see him before I go and that is what I am struggling with most. I hate it. The first night is always the hardest for me, I wish it didn't affect me as much as it does. I just have to think about what we are going to do, after I have worked and all the fun we will have. I will get over it, especially once I get to work and I am too busy to think about it. So that is enough of that.

On another note, we will be going to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery this Saturday, to see six artist interpretations of six different Explosions in the Sky, songs. It sounds awesome and I just hope that DJ doesn't have to work late, if at all. I will post pictures, as long as they allow me to take them.

I also thought I would share my "breakfast of champions" it's delicious.

This by no means a new concept, its just that this particular combination of brands, is awesome. I just sprinkle some the Trader Joe's cereal into my greek yogurt and I am one happy camper!

I hope everyone has a great night!

Happy Birthday lil Sis!

As I mentioned in my last post I have been working on developing certain skills, my latest endeavor was baking a cake for my sister Alesha's 21st birthday. I must confess I did not make the cake from scratch, but I am working my way up to that.  I need to give my good friend Colleen credit for introducing me to rainbow cake. She found a blog that demonstrates the how to, step by step. It was a fun adventure and of course I took some pictures to document.

Working with food coloring was so much fun!

Alesha opening her gift!

At Olive Garden for her birthday lunch! It was so goooood.

The candles look awkward, they were just too tall haha.

Celeste & Aidan on speaker phone singing Happy Birthday with me. Alesha laughing because we were messing up the whole time.

Blowing out her 21 candles!

Black coffee and cake, yumm!

It turned out really nice.

Thanks Colleen!

Spring is here!

After becoming a Mrs. I quickly had to start developing some of my roles as a wife, such as being a home maker, cook, baker, and of course wife! As a result it has made me want to continue to grow in areas that I never tried to accomplish before. I guess it is all a part of growing up and defining yourself. So if you were to ask DJ what I have been asking for weeks now, he would tell you I want a plant, a flower, something. I am not particular, I just wanted something pretty that I could take care of. I never had a plant of my own, that I had to care for and keep alive lol, but I want to try. At the store yesterday I found an unbloomed hyacinth for $6! I didn't even think twice, they smell so good! You can imagine my excitement this morning, when I see my flower starting to bloom! I didn't expect anything to change in one night!

Yay for blooming flowers!

I thought I would also share some of the evidence of spring, right outside of my apartment. There is a lot of vegetation but only a few flowers.

This particular flower is randomly positioned right on top of a bush all by it's lonesome.

These are also, in our courtyard.
I always get giddy around spring time because it is the time of renewal and it is so invigorating! Happy Spring everyone!

A Day At The Park

One of the things that attracted us the most to our apartment complex is the fact that it is right across the street from a park! And of course Turbo loves it! Here is one of our recent days at the park...

I think he's stretching

See how happy he is?

this was the best picture after many attempts, at least Turbo looks happy!

I really like red on him.
It was a toasty day in the direct sunlight, but under the shade it was perfect. We just sat around and enjoyed being outside, admiring God artwork.
